We apologise for the absence of the top programmes chart these last few weeks. Sorry to disappoint you, we're using some new Stats, and they work a little differently to the last lot. So bear with us while we sort it out. All being well, the Chart should be back next weekend, but I'm pretty convinced that only Pip Evans gives a flying damn about the Top Ten anyway!
So, in the meantime, while you're waiting, how about some impromptu, off the cuff Radio Awards? Best Sports Programme, and News Reporting, both of these would have to go to Pip, if only because he's the only person covering those areas. The Friday Night Live from the Royal Lion, and SportsView are among out favourite, most listened to programmes. Best Friday Night Live? Richard Austin maybe? Gilly Warr? Close,my money would be on Phil Street and Mike Higgs, the finest double act in the South West. Pip would also receive a Special Acheivement Award for Technical Aplomb. So what about Best Documentary? No doubts at all, has to go to Colin Dawes Lyme Adventures. Looking for a Best Music Show is a daunting task, but in the end it would be, for me, a choice between three completely different programmes, the Phoenix Singers in St.Michaels last October, Steve Black & Siobhan Parr live at the George Chideock, or our very own Open Audio sessions. Being the Sound Recordist on all three, I have no preferences. Choose yourself, and if theres anybody out there, leave some comments please! Best Novelty Show? On the surface, you'd have to suggest the Golf Ball Derby, which personally I think gets the Daftest Most Successful Event Award, the Duck Race maybe, but, not forgetting the Double Rainbow Video and Mary singing Somewhere Over Lyme Regis!??
I'll return right here with some more of this surmising tomorrow, until then, goodnight.
